Interactive tiles composed of sensors and audio. The projected shadows activate the sensors and trigger melodies. By interacting, the passers-by compose a collective musical work.
Sensors and audio tiles
In addition to contributing to the design of the terrazzo pavers, we designed the sensors - these devices incorporating a light sensor and LED bulbs - as well as the audio tiles - ultra-high performance concrete tiles transformed into speakers by transducers.
The work
"For millennia, Dubaiites have dived into the depths of the sea to fish for pearls, making the region famous in the trade of this local "gold." By day and night, shadows unleash traditional bayati and hijaz melodies, paying homage to this lost local tradition."
